Reduced grid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008466
A computational grid for global numerical models where the number of grid points along lines of latitude decreases from the equator towards the poles. This configuration maintains a more uniform grid cell area across the globe, preventing the convergence of meridians from creating excessively small and computationally restrictive cells near the poles. A regular latitude-longitude grid, in contrast, has a constant number of longitude points at every latitude.
