Grid meridians

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006073

Lines of constant grid longitude in a grid coordinate system, which are parallel to the central grid meridian. These lines are used for navigation and mapping, especially in polar regions where true meridians converge rapidly. Grid meridians are typically oriented parallel to a chosen reference meridian, such as the Greenwich meridian.
