Grid heading

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006071

A direction measured relative to a grid north, which is a fixed direction on a grid system, rather than true north or magnetic north. This concept is particularly useful in polar regions where true meridians converge rapidly, making true north difficult to use for navigation. Grid headings are often used in conjunction with Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grids.
