Coarse-mesh grid
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004465
A computational grid used in numerical weather prediction or climate models that has relatively large spacing between its grid points. Coarse-mesh grids are computationally less expensive but resolve atmospheric features at a lower resolution. They are often used for global models or as outer domains in nested modeling systems.
