Normal population

A statistical population whose values follow a normal distribution. In atmospheric science, this concept is applied when analyzing large datasets of meteorological variables, assuming that the underlying distribution of these variables in the atmosphere is Gaussian. Statistical inferences about the population can then be made based on sample data.
