Lognormal cloud-size distribution

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007028

A statistical model describing the distribution of cloud droplet or ice crystal sizes, where the logarithm of the particle diameter follows a normal (Gaussian) distribution. This distribution is frequently observed in natural clouds and is characterized by a few large particles and many smaller ones. It is often used in cloud microphysics to represent the size spectrum of hydrometeors.
