Aerosol size distribution
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003349
A representation of the number, surface area, or mass of aerosol particles as a function of their diameter. This function describes the relative abundance of particles across a spectrum of sizes within a specific air volume. Aerosol size distributions are often characterized by distinct modes, such as the Aitken, accumulation, and coarse modes, which correspond to different formation and removal processes.
