Median volume diameter
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007179
A statistical measure representing the diameter at which half of the total volume of a collection of particles, such as raindrops or aerosol droplets, is composed of particles with smaller diameters and half with larger diameters. This parameter is used to characterize the size distribution of atmospheric aerosols and hydrometeors. It is often denoted as MVD.
