Sedimentation diameter

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008763

The diameter of a sphere of a specified density that has the same settling velocity in a given fluid as the irregularly shaped particle in question. This concept is used to characterize the aerodynamic behavior of atmospheric aerosols and other particulate matter. It is a theoretical value used in fluid dynamics calculations.
