Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010400

A dimensionless quantity used to characterize the terminal settling velocity of spherical particles in a fluid under the influence of gravity. It relates the drag coefficient to the Reynolds number for the particle's motion. The Best number is applied in atmospheric science to model the behavior and deposition of aerosols, volcanic ash, and precipitation particles like raindrops and hail.
