Bernoulli's theorem
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003893
A principle in fluid dynamics stating that for an incompressible, inviscid fluid in steady flow, an increase in the speed of the fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in pressure or a decrease in the fluid's potential energy. This theorem is a statement of the conservation of energy along a streamline. It is applied in meteorology to understand phenomena like wind flow over obstacles and pressure changes in atmospheric currents.
