Stokes's theorem
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009271
A fundamental theorem in vector calculus that relates the integral of the curl of a vector field over a surface to the line integral of the vector field around the boundary of that surface. It provides a connection between circulation and vorticity in fluid dynamics. This theorem is applied in meteorology to relate atmospheric circulation to the distribution of vorticity within a given area.
