Surface integral
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009437
A mathematical operation that calculates the total flux of a vector field across a specified surface in three-dimensional space. In atmospheric science, it is used to quantify the transport of properties like mass, momentum, heat, or moisture through a given area. For example, a surface integral can determine the total amount of water vapor flowing into a volume of air defined by a storm system.
