Integral depth scale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006575
A measure of the characteristic vertical extent over which a turbulent flow's properties are correlated. It represents the average size of the largest eddies in the vertical direction within a turbulent boundary layer. This scale is often used in atmospheric modeling to parameterize turbulent mixing processes and transport of scalars like heat and moisture.
