Zonal wind-speed profile

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010334

A representation of how the speed of the zonal wind changes with altitude or depth in the atmosphere or ocean. This profile often shows distinct layers, such as the jet streams in the upper troposphere, where zonal wind speeds are maximized. It provides insight into the vertical structure of atmospheric circulation.
