Zonality of hydrological phenomena
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010335
The tendency for hydrological characteristics, such as precipitation patterns, river regimes, and evaporation rates, to vary systematically with latitude. This reflects the influence of global climate zones, which are themselves largely determined by latitudinal variations in solar radiation. For example, tropical regions generally exhibit higher annual precipitation than polar regions.
