Lamellar vector
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006854
A vector field that can be expressed as the gradient of a scalar potential function. A key property of a lamellar field is that it is irrotational, meaning its curl is zero everywhere. In the context of atmospheric fluid dynamics, if the wind velocity vector were lamellar, the flow would be free of vorticity, representing a highly simplified state that is rarely observed in the real atmosphere except in specific idealized models.
