Current function
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004811
A scalar field used in fluid dynamics to represent a two-dimensional, incompressible flow. Its isolines are streamlines, meaning that the velocity vector is everywhere tangent to these lines. The difference in the value of the current function between two streamlines gives the volume flux per unit depth between them.
