Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009321

A line in a fluid flow field that is everywhere tangent to the instantaneous velocity vector. It represents the path a massless fluid parcel would take if the flow were steady. In atmospheric science, streamlines are used to visualize wind patterns and identify features like troughs and ridges.
