Sedimentation

The process by which solid particles settle out of a fluid, such as air or water, and accumulate on a surface. This occurs due to gravity or centrifugal force acting on particles denser than the fluid. In atmospheric science, it describes the deposition of aerosols or dust particles onto the Earth's surface.
