The spatial or temporal arrangement of a meteorological variable, describing how its values are spread across a region or over a period. This can refer to the geographical pattern of temperature, precipitation, or pressure, or the frequency of occurrence of certain weather events. Statistical distributions, such as the normal or gamma distribution, are often used to characterize atmospheric data.
