Geometric mean
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005923
A type of mean or average that indicates the central tendency of a set of numbers by multiplying them together and then taking the nth root, where n is the count of the numbers. It is particularly useful for data that are log-normally distributed or represent rates of change. This mean is often applied in atmospheric science for averaging concentrations or growth rates.
