Harmonic mean
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006174
A type of average that is the reciprocal of the arithmetic mean of the reciprocals of the given set of numbers. It is particularly useful when dealing with rates or ratios, such as averaging speeds over fixed distances or resistances in parallel circuits. The harmonic mean tends to be influenced more by smaller values in the dataset.
