Global Positioning System

A satellite-based navigation system that provides precise location and time information anywhere on Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. In meteorology, GPS receivers are used in radiosondes to measure wind speed and direction by tracking their movement. It also contributes to atmospheric sounding through GPS radio occultation techniques.
