Green snow

Snow that exhibits a green coloration, typically caused by the presence of microscopic algae or other microorganisms growing on or within the snowpack. This phenomenon is most common in polar and alpine regions during warmer periods when conditions are favorable for algal growth. The color can vary from pale green to dark olive.
