Green flash
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006056
A rare optical phenomenon occurring at sunrise or sunset, where a green spot or ray of light is visible above the sun's upper limb for a brief moment. It results from the differential refraction of sunlight by the atmosphere, which separates the colors of the spectrum. This effect is most often observed when the horizon is clear and distant.
