High-altitude station

A meteorological observing site located at a high elevation, such as on a mountain or plateau, where atmospheric conditions differ from those at nearby lower elevations. These stations provide data on temperature, pressure, wind, and precipitation that are less influenced by localized, low-level effects. The World Meteorological Organization defines a high-altitude station as one with an elevation of at least 500 meters.
