Higher-order closure
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006249
A modeling technique used in atmospheric science to represent turbulent fluxes by deriving prognostic equations for higher-order moments of turbulent quantities. This approach attempts to provide a more physically realistic description of turbulence than first-order closure schemes, which rely on simpler parameterizations. It involves closing the system of equations at a level beyond the mean and second-order moments, often requiring assumptions about triple correlations.
