One-and-a-half order closure

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007686

A turbulence closure scheme used in atmospheric models that parameterizes turbulent fluxes based on prognostic equations for turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) and a diagnostic length scale. This method provides a more sophisticated representation of turbulence than first-order closures by accounting for the transport and production of TKE. It is commonly applied in boundary layer models.
