E''-ε closure

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005279

A type of second-order turbulence closure scheme used in computational fluid dynamics to model turbulent flows, including those in the atmosphere. This method involves solving transport equations for both the turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) and its dissipation rate (ε), along with an equation for a scalar variance (E''). By calculating these turbulence quantities directly, the model can provide a more detailed and physically realistic representation of turbulent mixing and transport than simpler first-order closure schemes.
