Small eddy closure
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008953
A modeling approach used in fluid dynamics, including atmospheric and oceanic sciences, to represent the effects of small-scale turbulent eddies on the larger-scale flow. Since explicitly resolving all eddies is computationally infeasible, their collective influence is parameterized using closure schemes. This method aims to capture the energy transfer and mixing properties of turbulence without resolving individual eddies.
