Second-order closure
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008748
A modeling technique used in atmospheric science to represent turbulent fluxes by deriving prognostic equations for the Reynolds stresses and turbulent heat fluxes. This method involves closing the system of equations by parameterizing third-order moments. It offers a more detailed representation of turbulence than first-order closure schemes, which rely on eddy diffusivity concepts.
