Nonlocal closure
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007582
A method used in atmospheric models to parameterize turbulent fluxes, where the flux at a given point depends on the mean gradients of variables over a larger vertical extent, rather than just at that point. This approach accounts for the transport of properties by large turbulent eddies that can span considerable distances. It is often applied in the convective boundary layer.
