Nonlocal flux
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007583
The transport of a quantity, such as heat, momentum, or moisture, by turbulent eddies that originate far from the point of measurement. This type of flux is characteristic of large, energetic eddies that can carry properties over considerable vertical or horizontal distances. It is often parameterized in atmospheric models using nonlocal closure schemes.
