Nonlinearity of the equation of state
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007581
The property of the equation of state for a fluid, such as air or seawater, where density is not a simple linear function of temperature, pressure, and salinity. This nonlinearity means that the response of density to changes in these variables is not constant. It has implications for buoyancy calculations and the dynamics of atmospheric and oceanic circulations.
