Convective term

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004681

A mathematical expression in a fluid dynamics equation that represents the transport of a property, such as momentum or heat, by the bulk motion of the fluid. In atmospheric models, it describes how quantities are advected by the wind field. The convective term is a source of nonlinearity in the Navier-Stokes equations, which govern atmospheric motion.
