Horizon distance
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006273
The maximum distance an observer can see along the Earth's surface before the curvature of the Earth obstructs the view. This distance is affected by the observer's height above the surface and atmospheric refraction, which can bend light rays. For an observer at sea level, the horizon distance is approximately 4.7 kilometers.
