Ice regime phase

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006433

A classification of the state of an ice-covered water body, describing the dominant ice processes occurring at a specific time and location. The phases include formation, growth, deformation, and decay, each characterized by distinct physical properties and behaviors of the ice cover. For example, the deformation phase involves the creation of ridges and rubble fields from the interaction of ice floes.
