Ice raft
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006432
A floating mass of ice, often composed of several smaller ice floes that have been pushed together and overridden, creating a thicker, multi-layered structure. This process, known as rafting, occurs when ice floes collide under pressure, with one floe sliding over another. Ice rafts are common in areas of converging sea ice.
