Hadley regime

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006144

The global atmospheric circulation pattern characterized by the Hadley cells, which are large-scale tropical overturning circulations. Warm, moist air rises near the equator, flows poleward at high altitudes, sinks in the subtropics, and returns to the equator as trade winds. This regime is responsible for the distribution of tropical rainfall and subtropical deserts.
