Dishpan experiments

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005054

Laboratory experiments that simulate large-scale atmospheric and oceanic circulation patterns using a rotating fluid in a heated and cooled pan. These experiments demonstrate fundamental principles of geophysical fluid dynamics, such as baroclinic instability and wave formation. They provide insights into the behavior of planetary atmospheres and oceans.
