Rossby regime
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008611
An atmospheric flow regime where the dynamics are primarily governed by the propagation and interaction of Rossby waves, characterized by a relatively small Rossby number. In this regime, the Coriolis force and pressure gradient force are largely in balance, leading to quasi-geostrophic motion. This regime is typical of large-scale atmospheric circulation in mid-latitudes.
