Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006435
A dome-shaped elevation of ice that is grounded on the seabed or land within an ice shelf. These features are typically formed by the accumulation of ice over a topographic high point, causing the ice to thicken and become locally grounded. Ice rises act as pinning points, influencing the flow and stability of the surrounding ice shelf.
