Inversion of rainfall
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006632
A meteorological phenomenon where precipitation amounts increase with altitude up to a certain level, then decrease at higher altitudes. This pattern is often observed in mountainous regions where orographic lift initially enhances rainfall, but above a certain elevation, moisture content or cloud formation processes become less efficient. The altitude of maximum rainfall varies significantly depending on geographic location and atmospheric conditions.
