Jet
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-001464
A narrow, concentrated current of fast-moving air within the atmosphere, characterized by strong vertical and lateral wind shear. These features are typically found in the upper troposphere or lower stratosphere, where they are known as jet streams. To be classified as a jet, wind speeds must exceed a certain threshold, such as 50 knots (approximately 58 mph or 93 km/h).
A fast-moving wind current surrounded by slower moving air.
