Kossava

A strong, cold, and gusty southeasterly wind that blows across the Balkan Peninsula, particularly affecting Serbia and Romania. This regional wind develops when high pressure builds over southeastern Europe and low pressure is present over the Adriatic Sea. The Kossava is a type of bora wind, channeled and intensified by the Carpathian Mountains, and can persist for several days, causing sharp temperature drops.
