Least-time track
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006909
A navigational path for ships or aircraft that minimizes the total travel time between two points, considering varying wind or ocean current conditions. This track is calculated by continuously adjusting the course to take advantage of favorable currents or winds and avoid adverse ones. It is a practical application of optimal control theory in meteorology and oceanography.
