Logarithm

The exponent to which a fixed base number must be raised to produce a given number. In meteorology, logarithms are frequently used to analyze data that spans several orders of magnitude, such as atmospheric pressure or pollutant concentrations. Common bases include 10 (common logarithm) and the mathematical constant e (natural logarithm).
