Long wave

A large-scale atmospheric wave, also known as a planetary wave or Rossby wave, that develops in the westerlies of the middle and upper troposphere. These waves have wavelengths of thousands of kilometers and are responsible for the major weather patterns and the transport of heat and momentum around the globe. They propagate slowly and can persist for several days to weeks.
