Mean higher high water

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007159

The average height of the higher of the two daily high tides measured over a long period, typically the 19-year National Tidal Datum Epoch. In coastal areas with mixed semidiurnal tides, the two high tides each day are of unequal height, and this datum captures the higher of the two. Mean Higher High Water (MHHW) is a standard reference plane for nautical charts in the United States to indicate water depths and shoreline locations.
